“I began coaching with Rachel around my 30th birthday, and it was the best gift I could have given myself. When we began our work together, I had big dreams for the next decade (notably to publish a book and get my PhD), but I was struggling to see my goals as within reach. They seemed like pipe dreams, and so I phrased them as wishes, not intentions. I made excuses. I remember telling Rachel that I didn't know how to write a book; "What if I fail?" I asked her. Over our time together, she helped me recognize that there is no failure if I'm learning and growing. She's wise, funny, and encouraging, and because she's a great listener, we developed a strong relationship and rapport quickly. Her coaching was unique to me and my goals, not boilerplate, and she used positive psychology, plus research she did specific to my goal of writing a book, to help me reframe my outlook. We broke down my big goals into smaller steps, and I can't thank her enough for her generosity. Now, I'm actively writing my book and applying for graduate programs, and I'm no longer standing in my own way.” -G.N.
